ways to waste time

i am in the process of finding better ways of “wasting time” than playing a repetitive online game like *cough* World of Warcraft. in plain english im looking for potential new hobbies that do not involve computers or computer games. i don’t want to start “pressing that button” ever again. during summer this is not really an issue, i have my road bike to take out for rides, but winter is going to be nasty.

so here’s a list of potential (new) hobbies:

  • digital SLR photography (P&S does not cut it)
  • astrophotography (yes, it is about time to dust off my old telescope)
  • astronomy in general (i used to be quite into it during highschool)
  • modeling (there are about 10 unassembled model kits around here somewhere)
  • airbrushing (goes hand in hand with modeling, i found my airbrush and compressor recently)
  • table top gaming (same as with the model kits, assembly and painting of half of my dark elf army and my entire lord of the rings stuff required)
  • i have to admit sometimes i am tempted to “push that button” again, but i “wasted” over two years playing that game and it’s not something im proud of. granted, it was partly a worthwhile experience, but when the game takes over it is just too much.

right now im in the middle of “reconstructing” my life, not only as far as furniture and hobbies are concerned, i think i have arrived at a crossroads and i need to decide which way to take. it is one of the “big questions”, namely “what do you want to do with your life?” goes hand in hand with “who are you?” and “what do you want?” but i digress from the issue at hand. i don’t know the answer yet, but i am trying to figure it out.
