moving webhosts

i am in the middle of moving webhosts. i have been hosting with the same company for over seven years now and although they have increased disk and trafic quotas over the time, the monthly fee stayed the same. however, that was not the main reason i decided to say goodbye to them, it was a persistent error (“lost mailbox lock”) i kept getting when using IMAP to access my mailboxes. the support of my old webhost blamed windows mail for it. but how come windows mail works with IMAP and my new webhost flawlessly?
